School of Accounting and Finance Research
Academic staff members of the School are actively engaged in research in the fields of financial accounting and management accounting, being the two main disciplinary specialisations in which Charles Sturt University offers research higher degrees in accounting. Within these fields, the particular focal areas for the School's research efforts are:
- public sector and not-for-profit accounting;
- accountability, governance and sustainability; and
- accounting education
- environmental law
In these areas staff currently undertake projects which concern learning, teaching and the concept of 'difficult knowledge' in accounting; social and environmental accounting; accounting and accountability for public sector and not-for-profit organisations; accounting history; accounting ethics; international financial reporting; rural and regional issues in accounting; generic skills, pedagogy, assessment and curriculum in accounting education; property rights and environmental legislation; and the interaction between social issues and environmental law.
Accounting & Accountability Research Team (AART)
All academic staff members in accounting are part of the Accounting and Accountability Research Team (AART), which is a funded research group within the Faculty of Business. The AART provides financial, peer, mentoring and developmental support for research in the discipline, and members meet regularly to engage in collaborative research and to update colleagues on the progress of individual research projects. The AART is also supported by the Accounting Researchers Online (ARO) - the School's digital discussion forum featuring links to research resources and announcements about forthcoming journal issues and conferences in accounting. For further information contact the AART.
Accounting Research Forum
The Accounting & Law Research Forum is the School's seminar series, providing an arena for the presentation of research papers and teaching and learning workshops related to the discipline.
