Welcome to the AGMC

The Australian Graduate Management Consortium (AGMC) is a joint initiative between Charles Sturt University (CSU) and TAFE NSW. It was originally established to design and operate a new and innovative style of Graduate Certificate in Management that would meet the needs of busy managers. Now in its 16th year, AGMC is proud to be offering a suite of graduate qualifications!

We are more practically oriented

AGMC qualifications are the result of a unique partnership between TAFE and the university sector. Graduates receive a University Postgraduate Management qualification with the practical relevance for which TAFE is renowned.

The university comes to you! You study at a TAFE campus or through a private training provider at convenient locations across Australia, or in distance education mode with online support.

We are more client focused

In designing the Graduate Certificate in Management AGMC asked "What do practical managers really want?" The result is a course that equips students with management skills to become reflective, change-adept practitioners in current and emerging workplace realities. Since its inception in 1994 AGMC has sought and used feedback from its graduates to ensure courses continue to meet the needs of, and remain relevant to, contemporary managers.

We are more flexible

You don't need a university degree to enrol in an AGMC course! In fact, many AGMC course participants have never undertaken a university course. You will, however, need to have extensive supervisory/management experience, usually in conjunction with a relevant TAFE qualification.

With us, the way you learn is different

As an AGMC student you'll share your learning experience by participating in active discussion and group problem solving activities. You'll be stimulated by career-relevant learning materials that have a practical orientation and you can choose to learn about those aspects of a Module that are of most relevance to you. Study sessions are generally structured as short blocks of part time learning, with breaks between so that you can catch up if you need to.

Assignments are referred to as 'Action Plans'. Each 'Action Plan' you work on will be based on your current or previous work experience, allowing you to directly apply what you're learning to real life situations.

We're especially proud of our completion rates

Completion rates for AGMC courses are high. Impressive when you consider that most AGMC participants have demanding jobs and family responsibilities, and often haven't studied for some time! AGMC's secret is support. Students work in a co-operative, group environment supported by knowledgeable and helpful presenters and site co-ordinators who've been carefully chosen for their commitment to quality service delivery.

AGMC is different in many ways. Not surprisingly, people who have shared the AGMC experience like what we do! Why not talk to current participants and graduates to get their views on those aspects of the course that are particularly important to you?
