An exciting new tool to sharpen your organisation's competitive edge!
The AGMC Graduate Certificate in Management (GCM) is a unique postgraduate learning program designed to enhance the performance of busy, practically oriented managers. It's a flexible program that can be delivered in a range of modes to meet operational requirements, and customised to meet YOUR needs.
Whether you need a management learning program for one manager or hundreds, AGMC can help you to craft tomorrow's managers and sharpen today's.
How can I use GCM in my organisation?

How much customisation do you need?
At one extreme we could produce a complete Graduate Certificate in Management to your specification (the content would need to meet the requirements of a Graduate Certificate level award at the University). At the other extreme you may not need any formal customisation at all.
Many organisations have successfully run the generic GCM course in-house. An element of customisation is achieved through the learning model - the Overview element allows for presenter input and this could be industry or organisation specific content. And Learning Activities, Challenge tasks and Action Plans (assignments) all require participants to relate the Module topic to their own work situation.
Customisation alternatives include introducing industry or organisation specific materials into Modules, or substitution of Modules or whole Streams. For example the Australian Veterinary Association Practice Management Course uses 18 of the 24 generic Modules and six specially written Modules .
Coupling different delivery and customisation options opens up an exciting range of possibilities!
The Australian Veterinary Association Practice Management Course has one third of its Modules delivered by distance . The remainder are delivered in residentials, bringing participants together from across Australia for an intensive learning (and social!) experience.
For example, a nationally dispersed client could gain cross-industry exposure for participants by having them join local public access courses for some generic Streams while bringing participants together for other customised Streams in-house (or by distance). Customisation and travel/accommodation costs can be kept to a minimum.
We would be pleased to put you in touch with organisations with experience of different levels of customisation.
What are the delivery options?
A face-to-face-course
Usually as a one day a week (or two half days or evenings) part time face-to-face course. Participants complete one Module each week and have time between Modules to relate each topic to their own and their organisation's management practices.
A face-to-face-plus-distance program
Distance elements use the face-to-face course materials supplemented by a Learning Guide, and participants complete Activities and Challenges in virtual groups linked by telephone and e-mail.
Face-to-face elements are used to complete selected Modules, and to establish learning relationships which are continued in virtual groups in the distance elements. The length of face-to-face elements can be varied to suit the level and experience of the learning group, as well as operational requirements. eg: For each of the four Streams, a course could comprise a residential over 5 days where four face-to-face Modules were offered, supplemented by two distance Modules completed before or after the residential.
A distance program
To minimise the usual isolation of distance learning, participants work on Activities and Challenges in virtual groups with e-mail and phone support. While it is possible to deliver the program in full distance mode, an initial face-to-face element is recommended.
On-campus or in-house
Participants can join public access courses which usually run twice each year at AGMC delivery sites across Australia . The course can also be run in-house to schedules which meet your operational requirements. For in-house programs we encourage the participation of your organisation's staff as Module Presenters and guest speakers.
