Contributing to the Journal
The Australian Journal of Accounting Education (AJAE) welcomes contributions on ideas and innovations in accounting education policy and practice, covering research, theoretical and conceptual developments, and examples of current practice.
Manuscripts must be based on original scholarship or research and should not be currently published or submitted for publication elsewhere. A statement on this should be included in your submission. All papers submitted to the journal will be subject to double blind review.
Authors are requested to submit four hard copies of their manuscript to:

Format
- Manuscripts should not exceed 7000 words, including notes, references, appendices, tables, figures or charts etc.
- All manuscripts should be typed on one side only of A4 paper and double spaced. Margins should be at least 2.54 centimetres at the top, bottom and both sides of the page.
- Each manuscript should include a title page and an abstract page.
- The title page should contain the title of the article, name(s) of author(s), affiliation, address, telephone number, fax number and email address. Any acknowledgments should also be included on the title page.
- The abstract page should contain only the title of the article and a 150–word abstract. There should be no information which could identify the author(s).
- The introduction should state clearly the objective of the paper as well as the context and motivation of the research. The literature review should be limited to articles, books and other items which have a direct bearing on the topic. The conclusion should summarise key findings and indicate their importance to accounting education.
- Endnotes, references, appendices, tables and figures should be placed at the end of the manuscript. Endnotes should be kept to a minimum.
- Tables, figures and charts should contain a brief title and should be numbered.
- Authors should provide separately a brief biography of no more than 100 words.
Style Guide
The Australian Journal of Accounting Education uses the Harvard (author–date) referencing system.
In–text references should be formatted as follows:
- (Smith 1988)
- (Knight & Day 1997)
- (Knight 1996: 45)
- (Jones et al. 2001)
The list of references should be arranged alphabetically by author surname, followed by date of publication, then title and publication details. Titles of books and journals should be italicised.
Quotations
- Single quote marks only.
- Longer quotations – more than three lines – should be indented without quote marks.
Numbers
- Spell out numbers one to ten except when used in tables and charts or in distances, weights and measures. For example, three days, 5kms, 22 years.
In general terms, contributors are asked to conform to the conventions of the Australian Government Style Manual.
