Brief Biography

Ihave been a lecturer at Charles Sturt University since 1990 after completing a Master of Public Administration in Britain.  I studied for my undergraduate degrees in business and arts as a distance student while working full-time.  I understand the discipline, effort and commitment distance education requires, and also the pressures and difficulties that arise.

I have taught in several areas including Public Administration, Public Policy, Local Government, Human Resource Management, Organisational Behaviour and other general management subjects.

My major research interests are in the area of public policy, particularly in how people can impact on the change and development of their communities and on regional development policy more broadly. This includes considering how behavioural factors such as leadership, motivation and group dynamics affect how policies are formulated and carried out.

In the past I have undertaken a considerable amount of consultancy work for the NSW Department of State and Regional Development and the Riverina Regional Development Board.  For several years I acted as an assessor for the Institute for Public Administration's Annual Report Awards which evaluate the quality of Commonwealth Government Annual Reports. Until late 2008, I was a director and Deputy Chair of the Wagga Wagga BEC and an ex-officio director of the Wagga Wagga Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
