Mathematics Disiplines > Centres
The mathematics and statistics staff are actively engaged in research and consultancy collaboration with a number of research groups both within and outside the University. These groups include:
- University Research Centres
- EH Graham Centre
EH Graham Centre
EH Graham Centre conducts research and consultancy into a wide range of agricultural and environmental
issues. The mathematics and statistics staff provide quantitative and statistical support for many of
EH Graham Centre research programs. Current collaborative projects include the development of new
airborne imaging systems for precision farming and the analysis of optimum field management strategies
for the rice industry.
More information on EH Graham Centre is available from EH Graham Centre web site.

Institute for land, Water and Society
The Institute for land, Water and Society's focus is on ecosystems in the Murray-Darling Basin, rural Australia and rural areas in the Asia Pacific region with an emphasis on the management of protected areas. Mathematics staff are currently working collaboratively with members of the Institute for land, Water and Society to build mathematical models to aid in assessing river health in the Murray Darling Basin.
More information on the Institute for land, Water and Society is available from the Institute for land, Water and Society web site. Alternatively, you may like to contact JOHN LOUIS by e-mail.
Ron Potter Centre for Grape & Wine Research
The Ron Potter Centre aims to integrate research, teaching, training and information exchange for the Wine industry in Australia. Current collaborative projects include mathematical modelling of winery refrigeration systems and the development of imaging technology for precision viticulture systems.
More information on the Ron Potter Centre is available from the National Wine & Grape Industry Centre (NWGIC) web site.
University Research Groups Spatial Analysis Unit (SPAN)
Mathematics & statistics staff work closely with the Spatial Analysis Unit in providing
research and support in the areas of spatial analysis, geographic information systems (GIS),
remote sensing and image processing.
More information on the Spatial Analysis Unit is available from the SPAN web site.
Alternatively, you may like to contact the manager of SPAN Gail Fuller by e-mail.
External Research Group Linkages > Data Mining
Data mining is the extraction of useful information hidden in the large data sets. The aim of this project is to develop methods that assist in the analysis of such large data sets including methods for the determination of numerical models for prediction and clustering. This is a collaborative research project with Australian National University and the University of Queensland.
More information on Data Mining is available from the ANU web site. Alternatively, you may like to contact IRFAN ALTAS by e-mail.
