Zelma has been a Lecturer in Management Communication at the Orange campus (UNE/USYD/CSU) for 15 years. She has been the Acting Associate Dean (Teaching & Learning) in 2003 and Course Coordinator for Rural Business Administration and now the Bachelor of Management. She has an interest in teaching and learning with a specific focus of the capability approach to higher education and the development of a graduation portfolio to enhance the employability of graduates. During her postgraduate studies Zelma concentrated on training and development within organisations and developed a keen interest in action research and action learning. In recent times she has completed training in Community Development and Deliberative Democracy with University of Missouri (USA) and Kettering Foundation to develop strategies in engaging public participation in natural resource management.
Zelma comes from a rural community and taught in high schools for 11 years (Social Sciences Department) and spent two years in Labour Market Programs at TAFE prior to joining the university.
