Bio

Rachael is a qualified Technology educator with over fourteen years experience who has worked as both a secondary and tertiary educator in many sectors. Rachael initially started her career as a Technology teacher working in both government and non-government schools, where she taught diverse technologies across different stages. Whilst graduating as a specialist in Food and Textile technologies she proactively sought professional development opportunities, which allowed her to develop and broaden her technological proficiency. This proactive approach to lifelong learning has been carried through her entire career. Rachael became Coordinator of Technology and then a Curriculum Officer while employed at at Senior Sydney   College . During this time her teaching focussed on Hospitality, Food and Design and Technology and she had much success with student results and design awards. Rachael's dual Curriculum Officer position inspired her enthusiasm for curriculum design and development and as a result she became involved with the Department of Education and Training, Office of the Board of Studies and the Association for Independent Schools. During these partnerships she did and continues to focus on curriculum design, development and strategies for implementation.

Rachael took up an Academic position within Technology education in 2001 at Charles Sturt University , Wagga Wagga. Throughout this time she has consistently coordinated and/or been an active team member of many projects relating to syllabus design, development and implementation, in addition to internal and external Technology courses. Rachael currently chairs numerous internal and external committees, in particular HSC examination committees. Rachael has written multiple chapters in two successful Secondary textbooks and keeps current by proactively involving herself in committee work at executive and membership levels. Throughout her employment at Charles Sturt University  she has been involved in research work and student liaison which has provided her with regular opportunities to be part of individual classroom contexts and whole school environments. These experiences continue to impact her own teaching and the many beginning and qualified teachers she engages with on a daily basis. Rachael enjoys actively involving herself in all facets of the profession and is passionate about Technology education and all that it can offer.
