Gerald Wurf
Gerald has worked for over two and a half decades as a developmental psychologist. He has practised in a range of settings including working for the NSW government health and state disability services. He coordinated a children’s disability service in a large, regional NGO for five years and during this time he was involved in research examining the effects of congregate versus group-home care. He has also completed research investigating the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) to support the delivery of services to students with intellectual disabilities. In addition he conducted psycho-educational assessments, delivered behavioural teaching programs to special needs teachers and has been a consultant psychologist to independent and international schools.
Gerald completed post-graduate studies in educational psychology at the University of Hong Kong and is a long-standing member of the College of Educational and Developmental Psychologists (Australian Psychological Society). He spent eight years teaching and researching in Hong Kong including teaching developmental psychology at The Open University and The University of Hong Kong. His most recent high school appointment was at the Hong Kong International School where he was Dean from 2001-2004. This position involved a half-time teaching and a half-time high school counselling load. He commenced lecturing at CSU in 2008.
