Welcome to 2012!
This year is an exciting one as the Murray School of Education and the School of Education (Wagga Wagga) merge to become a larger and expanded school of education. Below are some details about the administrative change. During 2012 we look forward to developing a new web site so we can provide up-to-date information on the expanded staff team, events and activities on both the Albury-Wodonga and Wagga Wagga campuses and opportunities for our students and our communities.
All the best to our students for a successful year of study ahead and to those students considering a teacher education course here at CSU we look forward to welcoming you into your course during Orientation Week 2012.
The amalgamation of two schools within Charles Sturt University’s (CSU) Faculty of Education will offer students in the Border and Riverina regions more options and strengthen the University’s ability to meet the needs of education providers in regional Australia.
In January 2012, CSU’s Murray School of Education, based in Albury, and the School of Education in Wagga Wagga will merge to form a new School of Education.
The School will prepare teaching professionals for birth to five services, primary and secondary schools, and for vocational education and training and adult education.
Dean of the University’s Faculty of Education, Professor Toni Downes, said the administrative merger of the schools in 2012 will not impact on the courses currently offered at CSU in Albury-Wodonga and Wagga Wagga.
“In the longer term, we intend to better utilise University resources to afford students, schools and early childhood services across the Border and Riverina regions even greater diversity of programs and support, and better access to expertise at Charles Sturt University,” said Professor Downes.
“In Wagga Wagga we look forward to welcoming a large number of students into our two on-campus education courses, the Bachelor of Education (Primary) and Bachelor of Education (Technology and Applied Studies). “We also look forward to opening our new early childhood education centre (on the Albury-Wodonga campus) and continuing our strong collaborations with schools and services in and around the Border and Riverina regions,” she said.

The School of Education has a number of School Values which inform the work we do and these include a commitment to innovation, community partnerships and excellence in teaching and learning. We are currently working on a number of projects which are focused on these areas including a local conference, course revision and the integration of innovative technologies in teaching.

On 14th July 2005 The Murray Education Unit became the Murray School of Education.
The Murray Education Unit was established on the Albury-Wodonga campus in 1994. The initial offering was a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) from which we have seen more than 800 graduates join the profession. More than 150 students have graduated from our Bachelor of Education (Middle Schooling K - 12). All our graduates are successfully securing positions across a wide range of educational settings. These are professionals who are committed to providing high quality care and education for children from birth to Year 12.
The School offers several four-year undergraduate courses, to meet the educational needs of young children and adolescents. This school has a growing staff of full-time academics and administrative staff members. Sessional lecturing staff are engaged in teaching within the school and are highly valued within our Programs.
In January 2012, the Murray School of Education merged with the Wagga Wagga-based School of Education. This merged school is called the School of Education; Dr Louse Hard is the Head of School.
