Bachelor of Primary Education Studies
English Language Proficiency
All applicants must demonstrate an acceptable level of English language proficiency to gain admission to Charles Sturt University. Applicants will be considered to have met CSU’s English language requirement if they
a)
- have completed all their formal studies in one or more of the following countries; or
- were born in one of the following countries and have completed at least one formal qualification in one of those countries; or
- have completed Senior Secondary School study or the equivalent of one year full-time University study in one of the following countries:
Australia, Canada*, Fiji, Ireland, Kenya, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, American Samoa, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Africa, United Kingdom, USA, Zambia
with English as the language of instruction and assessment;
or
b) have successfully completed the equivalent of one year full-time post-secondary study at an affiliate institution of the University, with English as the language of instruction and assessment.
*French-speaking Canadians who have completed their senior secondary school study where the language of instruction was English, or have completed the equivalent of at least one year full-time University study where the language of instruction and assessment was English, will be deemed to have sufficient English language proficiency.
If you do NOT satisfy the above requirements you must demonstrate your level of English proficiency by providing English language test results taken in the last two (2) years. Test results must be originals, and should be submitted with your application, if possible. Test results MUST be received by the application closing date.
CSU requires the following minimum scores:
- Academic IELTS (International English Language Testing System) overall score of at least 6.0 with no individual score below 5.5
- TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) paper-based score of 550 and TWE of 5.0
- TOEFL computer-based score of 213 and Essay Rating of 5
- TOEFL Internet-based score of 80 with a minimum score of 25 in the writing section
The Bachelor of Primary Education Studies is offered under the written consent of the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities for the period from June 17, 2010 to June17, 2015. Prospective students are responsible for satisfying themselves that the program and the degree will be appropriate to their needs (e.g. acceptable to potential employers, professional licensing bodies or other educational institutions).
