Bachelor of Primary Education Studies
The Bachelor of Primary Education Studies is a one-year teacher education program that prepares candidates to teach in primary-junior (JK-6) classrooms in Ontario. As with other Ontario faculties of Education, this is a professional preparation program, and all applicants must be graduates of a three or four year university degree.
As this program is accredited by the Ontario College of Teachers, CSU facilitates OCT certification of all successful graduates through the provision of transcripts and by linking candidates with OCT processes.

HOW TO APPLY
There are a number of steps in the application process.

- Second, read ALL the information on this webpage.
- Next, click on the How to Apply button in the top right navigation bar above. READ this page carefully - it will explain everything you need to know to apply for the Bachelor of Primary Education Studies program, including detailed instructions and links to documents required for submission.
- The closing date for applications is 4:00pm, Monday, April 16th, 2012. All requirements must be received by this date. Late documents will NOT be accepted.
COMMUNICATION WITH APPLICANTS
Please note that ALL communication with applicants will be via email. It is your responsibility to ensure that the email address you provide in your application is correct and working, and that you check your email regularly for messages from CSU Ontario regarding your application. In particular, be alert to the Key Dates advertised below, to ensure that you especially check your email in relation to the critical times in the admissions process, such as 'invitation to interview'.
NOTE: please check your 'junk' email for messages from CSU, as your service provider may automatically file emails from unknown sources in this folder.

PROGRAM INFORMATION
Intake: August 2012 in full-time study mode (part-time NOT available; NO mid-year intake)
Completion: full-time study, August 2012 - April 2013
Tuition: CAD $17,500 total for the full-time program, 2012/13
NOTE: Tuition is paid in two installments of $8750 each – the first in May/June, after you accept your offer of admission to the program; and the second in December, prior to the start of second term.
KEY DATES
- Application closing date: 4:00pm, Monday, April 16th, 2012.
- Interviews: The interview is a compulsory component of the application process. The application package for each applicant will first be assessed on academic achievement (worth 60%) and experiential learning (worth 40%). On this basis, the top-scoring applicants will be selected for interview, to determine the final group of applicants to be offered a place in the program.
- Interviews will be held during the week of May 7 (exact dates TBA).
- Invitations to interview will be emailed to successful applicants by Tuesday, May 1st. Applicants who are selected for interview will be advised in the email of the date and time of their interview. Applicants will be expeced for interview at the date and time assigned to them. Requests for changes to your assigned date & time will NOT be considered except for extreme or urgent circumstances.
- Applicants must reply to accept their invitation by Friday, May 4th. If you do not reply by this date, the invitation will lapse and your interview timeslot will be allocated to another applicant.
NOTE: If you know that you will be overseas or unavailable for interview on the scheduled dates, you must - Late invitations to interview may be sent if timeslots become available - these will be emailed on Monday, May 7th.
- Offers: The Admissions Office will send letters of offer via email to the selected applicants beginning Monday, May 21st. Offers will continue until all positions in the program have been filled. Applicants have approximately two weeks from the date of their offer to return their acceptance, with acceptances due by Friday, June 1st.
- Unsuccessful applicants: Applicants who are unsuccessful either in gaining an interview or gaining an offer of admission to the program will receive a letter of notice emailed from the Admissions Office.

b) AND attach a note to your Application Fee cheque explaining your circumstances.
McMASTER EARLY ADMISSIONS
In recognition of the collegial partnership between CSU Ontario and McMaster University, an early round of admissions is offered to current students and alumni of McMaster. Please read the information and follow the instructions above on 'How to Apply'.
- Application closing date: Friday, March 2nd
- Interviews: will be held week of March 19th
- Invitations to interview: will be emailed to successful applicants by Monday, March 12th
- Interview acceptance: due by Thursday, March 15th
- Offers: sent by the Admissions Office to selected applicants, beginning Monday, March 26th
- Acceptance of offer: due by Tuesday, April 10th

The Bachelor of Primary Education Studies is offered under the written consent of the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities for the period from June 17, 2010 to June17, 2015. Prospective students are responsible for satisfying themselves that the program and the degree will be appropriate to their needs (e.g. acceptable to potential employers, professional licensing bodies or other educational institutions).
