Jordan Fox“I am enrolled in the Bachelor of Primary Education program at CSU’s Ontario Campus. I chose Charles Sturt University because of its emphasis on teaching experience and commitment to practicum experience.  It was highly recommended by principals and other friends who had attended the school, and the location is optimal.
“While at CSU I have learned about my profession, the skills needed to perform that  job effectively and information required to obtain a job upon successful graduation.
CSU Ontario is a close knit learning community based on the most current and innovative information.”

Henry Manne“Charles Sturt University has an exemplary reputation among school administrators and an excellent inclusive, cooperative philosophy of education. The combination of two days per week at an elementary school and two days per week in lecture and seminar groups provides exceptional opportunities for discussion and integration. Courses are based on sound, current pedagogical and philosophical foundations and offer excellent practical lectures, reading material and resources. Lecturers have extensive practical experience and are themselves effective educators who model what they teach.

Teaching is a second career for me. Although I have 25 years experience working with elementary and secondary school staffs and students, I recognized that to be an effective teacher in a classroom I needed to develop pedagogical tools, classroom management skills, a knowledge base of child development theories, current Ontario curriculum expectations, and assessment.

The Faculty members genuinely love education and  love children; they are themselves effective educators and committed to facilitating the development and professional growth of future teachers who will hopefully be inspired to do the same for future generations.

The work load and marking system are both demanding and challenging but this is necessary to provide candidates with a quality education within the time frame provided for a Bachelor of Primary Education and enable candidates to be competitive in a career where there is much competition. I would say that Charles Sturt University has given me confidence to face the interview process with school boards knowing that I have been as well prepared as I could possibly be. I would not hesitate to recommend CSU.”

“My decision to study at Charles Sturt University was based on the enthusiasm of two CSU alumni. The University was highly recommended by one student who had completed her Masters degree via correspondence and another who had graduated from the Bachelor of Primary Education.

The program focuses on integrating the Ontario curriculum to suit the diverse needs of students through balance and inclusive education.  It was important to me to attend a school that appreciated the individual needs of each and every student.

At CSU, I have been able to develop a teaching philosophy and learn the instrumental knowledge of lesson planning, classroom management, assessment and reporting.

I feel well prepared to enter the teaching profession thanks to CSU.

The practicum placement component of the program has allowed me to not only practice teaching under the direction of expert teachers but also build relationships with fellow colleagues. CSU is a place where you meet fellow students who quickly become your friends. The class sizes are small to provide a dynamic learning environment where students are engaged in lectures and workshops. My academic year at Charles Sturt University has been absolutely incredible.

CSU provides a professional, organized, and well-rounded learning experience.”

Brenda BretonMy choice of studying at CSU was determined mostly as a result of the course structure. I went to an information session held at the university in the spring of 2006. I was really impressed with the program and the focus on practical experience. Another consideration was the fact that the university is located in my city and travel time is less than 15 minutes!

I had wanted to study a Bachelor of Education for a number of years and with CSU I am finally making it happen. There is a practical teaching component of the program which goes from the start of the school year right up until May. This component is infinitely valuable as a tool for learning and growth as a teacher.

There is a great sense of comradery on the CSU Ontario campus! It's the friends, peers and staff at the university that I have met and worked with in the past five months. The people have made all the difference. I wouldn't think twice on recommending CSU, the program is unique and the staff are amazing.

This program is offered under the written consent of the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities for the period from 24 th December 2004 to 24 th December 2009 .
