The School of Information Studies encourages and supports a wide range of research activities. Academic staff members participate in research projects through research centres and partnerships, as well as individually. They supervise research students in the following courses:
The School houses several centres and groups and collaborates with others:
The Centre for Information Studies: in the discipline of library and information management.
The Centre for Studies in Teacher Librarianship: which facilitates research and scholarship in the field of teacher librarianship.
The School of Information Studies is a partner, with Monash University's School of Information Management & Systems, in ITNR (Information and Telecommunications Needs Research), a research and consultancy unit that explores and analyses how people use information, telecommunications and new media.
CIO (Collaboration in Information Organisation) research group: established in 2007, it comprises staff and students of the school who share a common aim of producing research that will improve information organisation practices.
