Bio
Doreen taught in schools in three states of Australia before entering the field of tertiary education. She has now worked in three universities, lecturing in three Australian states and also in Canada. Doreen has worked in both graduate and post-graduate programs at secondary, middle school, primary and early childhood levels. Her research areas include the practicum in pre-service teacher education, learning communities, critical theory and qualitative research, perspective and voice, flexible teaching pedagogies and productive and transformative education.
After many years of teaching in capital cities Doreen moved into rural NSW to expand her knowledge of indigenous and rural perspectives and sense of place. She is particularly interested in contesting the policy driven directions of pre-service teacher education and building teacher quality through deeper understanding of theories of learning and teacher identity.
