Bio
Jane Mitchell was appointed to the Faculty of Education at Charles Sturt University in July 2007. She has previously held positions at Monash University, The University of Queensland, and the University of Canberra. She completed her PhD at the University of British Columbia (Canada) in 2001. Jane’s teaching and research interests are concerned with teacher education, professional learning, curriculum and pedagogy. She has co-authored two books concerned with teacher education (Secondary Schooling in a Changing World and the Middle Years: More than a Transition) and has a number of other publications concerned with professional learning.
Research
- Teacher education and professional learning. Specific areas include: curriculum and pedagogy in initial teacher education; relationship between policy and practice; professional learning communities; professional learning leadership; professional standards and accreditation; school-university partnerships.
- Curriculum and pedagogy. Understanding relationship between context/culture, curriculum content, pedagogy and assessment in range of educational settings.
