Bio
I have retired from my previous position as Head of School and taken on adjunct staus to further my involvement in research endeavors. Since completing my PhD in 1998 I have acted as a consultant on numeracy for the Counting On Project (NSW Dept of Education and Training) and Count Me In Too (New Zealand Ministry of Education) and am now further investigating applications of my research to helping classroom teachers of mathematics.
Professional Engagement: My research interests include the development of understanding of the number system and the use of mental strategies, assessment of children’s and adults’ levels of understanding of numeration and the development of a numeration framework. Strategies for developing mathematical thinking. Professional development models for teachers.
