Window to Occupational Therapy

Roxarna Marks

Each glass panel represents some of the fundamental beliefs and values inherent in the OT profession. It's these values and beliefs which will help me as a future therapist to understand the heart of the profession, guide my clinical reasoning and practices, and in enhancing individual's functioning.

Clear panel: Symbolises the holistic perspective, focusing on the whole person rather than a collection of functional/dysfunctional parts.

Red panel (flower's core): Represents occupation as a therapeutic measure in exerting positive effects on health and wellbeing.

Blue panels: Signify purposeful activity and its role in enhancing occupational performance.

Pink panel: Relates to the premise of self-determination and maintaining active involvement of clients in therapy.

Yellow panel: Draws from Adolf Meyer's (1922) perspective - reliance on the balance of human occupation for effective functioning.

Green panel: Illustrates the importance of understanding concepts of disability/dysfunction from the client's perspective.
