Podiatry
Podiatrists play an important role in the maintenance of mobility, and general health and independence of members of the community. Podiatrists diagnose, assess and treat disorders of the feet and lower limbs using preventative, corrective and palliative methods and procedures.
Apart from their role in the treatment of foot and lower limb problems, podiatrists are involved in targeted screening and risk prevention, the provision of prophylactic treatment strategies that can delay and prevent hospitalisation, and the implementation of therapeutic care plans that facilitate mobility and activity.
The Bachelor of Health Science (Podiatry) course at Charles Sturt University has a strong emphasis on the clinical practices associated with podiatry and this is complemented with studies in anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, health promotion and the social sciences. Students will be required to undertake clinical practice throughout the course.
