Caroline has been a lecturer in podiatry since July 2005. She graduated from Chelsea School of Chiropody in 1982 with a Diploma in Chiropody. After graduating she worked as a podiatrist for the National Health Service (NHS), based in East London . During this time, she enrolled in a Masters degree in Pharmacology at North East London Polytechnic, (now the University of East London ). Having gained a wealth of clinical experience with a broad mix of clients, Caroline was appointed as Deputy District Podiatrist for Parkside.

The MSc in Pharmacology provided an entry into the field of education, and in 1990, Caroline taught Chemistry to students on a health access course. In 1991, Caroline was appointed as a lecturer in podiatry at the University of Westminster , but within a year had accepted a lecturer’s post at the University of Brighton . Caroline worked at the University of Brighton for 13 years until 2005, and during this time she progressed from lecturer to principal lecturer, most recently having responsibility for leadership of the masters courses in the School of Health .

Caroline’s area of professional expertise is podiatric surgery, and she was awarded a Surgical Fellowship of the College of Podiatrists in 1997. Caroline has worked as a podiatric surgeon both within the University of Brighton , and in the NHS. She was actively involved in the development of a postgraduate qualification in surgery, in collaboration with the Royal Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists.

Seeking change and an improved work-life balance, Caroline moved with her family to Wangaratta in April 2005, joining CSU as a lecturer in Podiatry in July 2005. She currently teaches 2 nd, 3 rd and 4 th year students, specialising in podiatric surgery, local anaesthesia, pharmacology and podiatric medicine. Caroline is the podiatry liaison for Honours, chair of the podiatry staff/student committee and a member of the school research and ethics committees.

Caroline enrolled as a part-time PhD student in August 2006, with a study entitled ‘Illuminating Honours; exploring perceptions of undergraduate allied health students using mixed methods research’.
