Head of School

After training and working as a physiotherapist in London in the United Kingdom, Julia came to Australia in 1985 gaining experience in metropolitan, remote and regional areas. This experience fostered commitment to improving health care for Inland communities of Australia.

Julia joined Charles Sturt University in 1999 to become engaged with a team of people developing educational programs in allied health in the School of Community Health.  Charles Sturt University strives to educate professionals for National and International practice who have additional, special skills for regional and remote Australian practice.

The School of Community Health programs, founded on principles of integrated practice and community partnerships, have made a significant impact on allied health services, particularly in rural and regional Australia.

Julia's key research interests fall in two areas, interprofessional practice and injury prevention.
Current research is focussed on health care teams (specifically team practice, professional practice and extended scope practice) and falls prevention in rural Australia.  As part of the commitment to health care for Inland communities Julia is combining her research with her work with key stakeholders into Rural Allied Health Assistance Role to forge new career pathways in allied health.

Areas of Research Interest

Interprofessional practice and injury prevention.
