Employed by the School of Community Health to teach and co-ordinate subjects as part of the Health and Rehabilitation Science program.
Currently filling role as Acting Program Leader for the Bachelor of Health and Rehabilitation Science degree.
Teaching
Pete has been involved in the development of Health and Rehabilitation Science curriculum through writing the course content for HIP201 and the development of material for HIP112 in his role as subject coordinator of these subjects. The present QA focus for these subjects is on improving learning outcomes through expanding content delivery and learning options and increasing the practical and experiential learning experiences.
Subject Delivery
- HIP201 Health and Rehabilitation through the lifespan. This is a yearlong key subject taken by second year students in the Bachelor of Health and Rehabilitation Science.
- HIP112 Communication for Health Practice. A subject taken by first year students in Health and Rehabilitation Science and Podiatry.
Research
Pete is currently involved in a research project titled Education for natural and social sustainability; Evaluation of undergraduate healthcare curriculum.
The study will look at how well current health programs provide students with the knowledge of the interaction between health and sustainability issues and the skills to play a positive community role in addressing these. The study will also look at developing the sustainability content of health curriculums.
Professional & Community Engagement
Before working with the School of Community Health Pete worked as a Physiotherapist for 6 years initially in acute health, including intensive care environments, before working in rehabilitation and community outreach work. Pete has worked in a variety of regional and rural areas, in Victoria and Queensland.
