Research and Publications
Jane is interested in the long-term difficulties associated with childhood communication impairment and the experiences of individuals with communication impairment and their families. She is interested in the application of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health – Children and Youth version (WHO, 2007) for the holistic management of children with communication impairment and their families.
Jane is also interested in investigating services provided to children with communication difficulties (and other health needs), and in developing models of collaborative practice between speech pathologists and early childhood professionals to ensure all children are supported in their preschool years. She is interested in alternative models of service delivery, and in the health and wellbeing of children in rural and remote areas of Australia.
Jane has been involved with two ARC Discovery Projects; Jane was the Project Officer for the first project, “Children with speech impairment: A population study of prevalence, severity, impact and service provision” from 2007-2009. She is currently a chief investigator on the second, “A sound start: Innovative technology to promote speech and pre-literacy skills in at-risk preschoolers” (2013-2015) with researchers from the University of Sydney and the University of the West of England.
