Instrument Booking Form - Postgraduate and Researchers
* I have read and understand the EAL Booking policy. I authorise a direct debit to the account code stated.
INSTRUMENT BOOKING POLICY:
- Instrument charges are obtained from the EAL Manager. No work can proceed before a completed booking form is lodged with the EAL. Tentative instrument bookings will be noted but firm bookings will only be accepted with a completed booking form. An incomplete form will not be accepted.
- EAL staff will provide all instrument training that is required to ‘licence’ a user. Training must be undertaken before a user is allowed use the instrument. This training is free. The training period is determined by EAL staff using EAL samples only.
- To allow maximum use of after-hours and automatic-mode operation, a maximum of 7 hours charge will be applied in any one 24 hour period.
- Instrument bookings in excess of seven consecutive days will not be accepted, however this is open to negotiation.
- Whilst there will be no charge for no show users, it is expected that the user will communicate with the EAL Manager as soon as it is known that a booking will not go ahead. This is simple courtesy towards other instrument users.
- Exact instrument configuration required must be stipulated together with details of proposed dates and times when making a booking. Instrument performance in the stipulated mode will be tested and data supplied to the user prior to the period of use wherever possible.
- The EAL assumes that these charges are factored into all applications to funding bodies.
- Specifically excluded from this policy is all consultancy work, which shall be carried out with strict adherence to University policy and charges.
- Bookings must be made with a minimum of 7 days in advance of instrument use.
