Faculty funding schemes

  • Faculty Small Grants ($6000) - Faculty Small Grants are open to academic staff (Level A-C) wishing to conduct small/pilot projects in areas of relevance to the University's mission. The aim is to encourage early career researchers within the Faculty to gain funds for projects and provide an opportunity to build a competitive track record.
    This scheme will not be offered in 2010.

  • Publications Assistance Scheme ($2000) - Grants will be awarded to researchers in the Faculty of Science to complete and submit an existing draft manuscript for publication or rewrite and resubmit a manuscript that has been accepted for publication but requires major revision. The scheme is open to all academic staff in the Faculty with preference given to early career researchers.
    Closing dates are 12th March, and 20th August 2010

  • Grant Writing Assistance ($2000) - This scheme is designed to facilitate the development and submission of external competitive grants and research focussed consultancies. There will be two rounds of funding in 2009.
    Closing dates are 12th March, and 20th August 2010.

  • Faculty Seed Grants (up to $2000 - $5000) - Faculty Seed Grants provide an opportunity for Early Career Researchers (ECR) within the Faculty of Science to develop the skills and experience they need to compete successfully for funds from other sources such as the CSU Competitive Grant Scheme or external funding bodies. ECRs are defined as researchers who are at an early stage of their research career having limited research project experience.
    The deadline for submission is COB 20th of August, 2010.

  • Honours Project Operating Grants ($2000) - This scheme is offered by the Faculty of Science because operating costs for honours projects are not readily available through university research centres or school budgets. This scheme will fund the operating costs of well designed honours projects. Supervisors and supervisory teams may apply for up to $2,000 toward the operating costs associated with a proposed honours project.
    Closing date is 21st October 2011.

  • RHD operating grants -  This is a one off scheme for staff enrolled in a RHD at CSU who receive no operating funds to support their RHD project.
    The Faculty is calling for applications from staff who wish to undertake research on their higher degree during November 2010 to January 2011 and who have no alternate funding for operating costs.
    Applications close November 15 2010.
