The New South Wales Department of Health has introduced a new method of requesting clinical placements – the CPCIS system for all universities and TAFEs in NSW, to be rolled out across the state in 2009. Through this new process we will need to book our clinical placements for all Bachelor of Nursing students at least six months in advance.
CSU's School of Nursing & Midwifery has an excellent rapport with the numerous health areas across NSW and has worked closely with a number of our facilities both rural and metropolitan to ensure the clinical experience for our students is second to none.
Our students gain all their necessary clinical skills out in live nursing environments so they are ready to fulfil their duties as Registered Nurses upon completion of their degree.
We have an overall Clinical Coordinator, Mrs Ann-Marie Brown and a Clinical Administrator on each of our five campuses so all of our students can have the benefit of their own clinical contact during their course.
NSW Health Occupational Health and Safety Policy Directive 2007-06; "Occupational Assessment Screening & Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases" requires the following proof (see attachment) of individual disease protection prior to placement in clinical settings: ... more
Clinical Placement Scholarships - To recognise the importance of practicum and clinical placements, the Charles Sturt University Foundation Scholarship Committee at the Bathurst Campus has allocated a sum of $20,000 for each session (Autumn and Spring) in 2009, for the purpose of assisting meritorious students studying on the Bathurst Campus in the Teacher Education, Nursing and Paramedic disciplines. This scholarship is specifically for students undertaking practicum and clinical placements that are a compulsory component of their course - for more information go to the Bathurst Foundation Practicum and Clinical Placement Scholarships (PCPS) and Professional Placement Equity Grants (PPEG)
