Mental Health Week 2009 theme announcement
Mental Health Week NSW Campaign - Building resilience 2008 – 2010
Building resilience is about developing individual strengths and abilities to bounce back from challenges and setbacks. Everyone is born with the potential to develop resilience. Resilience is something we can all learn. Resilience doesn’t make problems go away, but can provide the ability to see past the challenges, enjoy life more and handle future stressors better.
Three areas that can build resilience have been chosen for the three years of the campaign – 2008 - gratitude and optimism, 2009 - engagement and 2010 – connectedness.
2009 “sign up, link in, get involved.”
This year, our focus is on ”sign up, link in, get involved” – promoting the importance of getting involved and interacting with other members of our community, as well as local clubs, organisations and services. Creating and strengthening these links, such as a joining a men’s shed or a sporting club, can be a useful resource to draw on during both the good and tough times. Getting involved is another way we can build our resilience and create a richer, more connected and meaningful life.
