General Introduction
I commenced my Bachelor of Nursing at the University of Sydney (Cumberland campus) in 1997. While undertaking this degree I had the opportunity of working part time as an Assistant in Nursing in various metropolitan acute hospitals until completing my Bachelor program in 2000. Upon completion I successfully gained entry into a Graduate Nurse program at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney and then continued at the hospital for an additional four years. During this period of time I worked in various areas of the hospital inclusive of Neuro ICU, Medical and Surgical wards, Nuclear medicine and Corrective health.
In 2005 I moved home to Albury and successfully gained a position in the Peri operative unit at Albury Base Hospital and later the Intensive care unit. In 2007 I commenced employment at Wodonga Regional Health Service as a Clinical Nurse Educator and embarked upon my journey as a nurse educator. During this period of time, I also had the opportunity of working as a casual teacher at Wodonga Institute of Tafe, RMIT (Medic program), Latrobe University (Clinical supervisor to Bachelor of Nursing students) and Charles Sturt University.
During this time I have also married, had two beautiful children and travelled both overseas and throughout Australia. I love meeting new and exciting people and sharing in life stories and experiences. I have a great passion for nurse education and believe that nursing is a fantastic career choice. I find great satisfaction in working with students to successfully fulfill their goals of becoming a Registered Nurse.
