A/Professor Ann Bonner completed her doctoral studies in renal (nephrology) nursing at the University of Western Sydney in 2002. Recently, she has been appointed as an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Charles Sturt University. A/Professor Bonner has established collaborative multidisciplinary research with other universities (James Cook University and University of Ballarat) and with health industry partners. She has an extensive publication and presentation record at national and international conferences. Her research interests are clinical practice and chronic illness with a particular focus on renal nursing. For 10 years, A/Professor Bonner practiced as a senior clinical nurse while developing her academic career, and was instrumental in establishing and maintaining a weekend transplant clinic. During this period, she also held a conjoint appointment between the academy and clinical industry partner. A/Professor Bonner’s extensive clinical experience enables her to bring a dual perspective on research and the practice setting. She is recognised nationally and, increasingly internationally, as an expert renal nurse, and has developed postgraduate renal nursing courses at universities. A/Professor Bonner has been an invited speaker at renal conferences. She is an Editorial Board Member for the Renal Society of Australasia Journal and reviewer for several national and international journals.
