General Introduction
Wayne Rigby is of Bunjalung descent (Murri). He is a registered nurse, as well as having a Bachelor of Social Welfare and a Masters Health Science. He has worked in health, welfare, mental health and academia at a state and commonwealth level. Wayne developed the first community health centre in New South Wales, 1973. He has worked as a senior staff counsellor for the Australian Bureau of Statistics, Research and project officer for health, child welfare consultant, and , more recently he has been a senior clinician and a health service manager. Currently he is the Director of the Djirruwang Programme for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people Mental Health Training at Charles Sturt University. He was also the Director and Senior Educator for the programme in 1997 for a short term.
