Purpose

These courses are intended to provide a means for persons working or interested in zoos or wildlife parks to extend their knowledge of the successful management of vertebrate species and upgrade their qualifications

Overview

These courses have been developed by Charles Sturt University in cooperation with Western Plains Zoo, Dubbo and Adelaide Zoo. Other people involved in the courses include professionals from Taronga Zoo and Melbourne Zoo. The ongoing support of the industry for the courses enables us to remain abreast of current issues and provide education of exceptional quality that is relevant to industry personnel.

The Graduate Certificate was the first tertiary course in Australia to specialise in captive vertebrate management and is recognised by the Australian Regional Association of Zoological Parks and Aquaria (ARAZPA) and Australasian Society of Zoo Keeping (ASZK) as meeting the advanced training needs of their members. The Grad Certificate CVM requires completion of subjects to the value of 32 points, the Grad Diploma CVM 64 points and the Master degree 96 points.
