Professor Peter ChenowethProf Peter Chenoweth

After completing a degree in BVSc at the University of Queensland (UQ), Peter commenced graduate studies on bull fertility supported by the Australian Meat Research Committee. This was followed by a stint in private veterinary practice in North Queensland before leaving these shores to join the faculty at Colorado State, and later, Texas A&M Universities.

Peter returned to Australia in 1980 to take up the position of Director of the UQ Pastoral Veterinary Centre at Goondiwindi, Queensland, progressing to the position of Deputy Dean (Clinical) of the UQ School of Veterinary Science. During this time, he spent a year on sabbatical leave as an Adjunct Professor, within the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine, at the University of Florida (UF).

In 1990, Peter returned to the US to join the faculty of the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Florida. He then assumed an endowed Chair (Professor and Coleman Chair in Food Animal Production Medicine) within the College of Veterinary Medicine, Kansas State University.

Peter joined the staff of Charles Sturt University’s Veterinary Science program in 2005 as Professor of Veterinary Reproduction and has since been involved in the development of facilities, resources and curriculum relating to animal reproduction.
