Kylie is the Herbarium Officer for the Faculty of Agriculture. The Charles Sturt University Herbarium is advancing the understanding and sound management of the flora of the Upper Murray and Murrumbidgee region by providing a reference collection and on–line data for researchers, land managers, students and community groups.
The Herbarium on–line web facilities allow viewing of, for selected species, herbarium specimen sheets and habitat information. This feature enables users to easily identify native and exotic specie s in the region, and to obtain useful information about each specimen.
This information is enhanced through the Herbarium's partnership with the Department of Land and Water Conservation and the Catchment Management Board. For selected species relevant information from the South West Slopes Revegetation Guide has been added to the on–line databases.
The Herbarium with the Johnstone Centre Consultancy Group has produced the 'Native Vegetation Management Guide for the Riverina'. The guide provides practical information on managing, restoring and establishing native vegetation in the western Riverina region. Vegetation profiles are provided for all land systems in the region, plus illustrated descriptions of over 300 species of trees, shrubs and ground covers. The Guide covers a wide area, extending from the Murray River, west to Balranald, east to Narrandera and north through Carrathool Shire. This guide is available in hard copy and as a fully interactive web site.
