Bruce Pennay has been an adjunct Associate Professor since he retired in 1999.

His more recent work includes a series of interpretation pamphlets about the Bonegilla Reception and Training Centre – Food at Bonegilla, The Army at Bonegilla, Calwell’s Beautiful Balts, Never Enough Dutch, So Much Sky, The Young at Bonegilla, Receiving Europe’s Displaced. He is currently working on Drysdale’s War-time Albury and has ambitions to produce a history of Albury.

In 2009 he was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in the General Division with the citation ‘For service to the community of the Albury-Wodonga area, particularly through the establishment of the Bonegilla Migrant Reception Centre Heritage Park’. He was honoured with a Fellowship of the Federation of Australian Historical Societies. The History Council of New South Wales awarded him the Annual History Citation ‘in recognition of his contribution as a historian and practising heritage consultant, in particular his service to heritage and community history in regional New South Wales and Victoria’.
