Rod Rumbachs was appointed as an Associate Lecturer in Spatial Science and is heavily involved in the GIS teaching and research programs of the school and in particular, assisting in the basic design of the Spatial Science program for CSU. His teaching interests are strongly focused on methods to convey the abstract and heavily IT based nature of Spatial Science. Rod is currently undertaking a Masters by research program investigating the detection of plant nitrogen concentrations using spectroscopic techniques in the field. This research will help with the efficient use and application of nitrogen fertilisers within fields and help to achieve more consistent yield rates within fields. His other research interests include advanced modelling of physical, spatial and temporal processes within GIS.
