Previously I worked with NSW Dept Environment & Conservation in the research section. Very broadly we looked at the effects of fire regimes on native plant dynamics within a range of ecosystems.
My current research will examine the ecological factors that drive woodland tree dynamics, given that there has been relatively little research in this area, especially in central and western NSW. This paucity of information on their ecology and their interactions makes management, for whatever purpose, difficult. The trees are represented by 3 broad functional types, which include resprouters (Eucalyptus spp.), obligate seeders (Callitris spp.) and suckers (Allocasuarinna/Casuarina spp.). Factors which have the potential to influence tree dynamics include environmental and disturbance regimes and their interactions.
