After working in the irrigation industry for several years, Tamara completed a degree in Agricultural Science (Irrigation) at CSU in 2002. Her honours degree combined an interest in irrigation with a love of travel, and allowed her to travel to Pakistan for data collection from an ACIAR field site. Tamara's PhD research area is in energy and water use efficiency in irrigated agriculture, with an emphasis on the environmental effects (greenhouse gas emissions and salinity impacts) of converting from flood to pressurised irrigation systems. Her study areas are the South East of South Australia, the Coleambally Irrigation Area and the Lower Chenab Canal in Pakistan. Her research interests include irrigation, water resource management and food security.

Thesis topic
