Tariq Rana has been involved in a range of research studies in the management of surface and groundwater resources aimed at increasing crop productivity while maintaining environmental sustainability. He has experience in conceptualization and analysis of complex surface–groundwater processes to identify water and salt balances to aid suitable interventions from farm to sub–regional levels. His recent international work includes investigation of conjunctive water management options using a dynamic surface–groundwater modelling approach in Australia and Pakistan. He has worked in Pakistan, Thailand, Hong Kong and Australia.
