Bachelor of Environmental Science and Management

This course, with integrated Honours option, International field experience and professional internship, develops graduates who have the skills to tackle national and international environmental issues. CSU’s Bachelor of Environmental Science and Management is for people wanting to address the big issues facing Australia and the Globe.

Studies in ecology, wildlife management, vegetation management, aquatic science, geographic information systems, environmental assessment and the earth sciences are complemented by studies of the human dimension, including Indigenous land management, environmental policy and natural resource management.

International Field Expedition & Study Abroad

Because many of the biggest environmental issues are international rather than just national, the course includes an international experience with East Timor and Nepal the focus in 2009.

This develops highly desirable skills in graduates including:East Timor Trip

Students are also encouraged to undertake a semester of study with an overseas university partner. Students in Environmental Science are currently studying in the USA, Canada, Ireland, Japan and Sweden.

Industry Internship

In the fourth year of the degree, students undertake an internship with an environmental company, agency or business to:Internship1

Students apply for internship placements and undergo a selection process similar to applying for a job. This develops essential job seeking skills and many internships lead to full time work upon graduation.

Download the Internship Industry Partner Information for more about the CSU Internship Program.

Honours

In year 3, students with a credit average or above can elect to undertake Honours in their fourth year. Honours is a year of research on a topic of interest in the Environmental Sciences. The project is usually undertaken in conjunction with an environmental industry or research organisation fulfilling the internship requirement of the degree. The international trip for Honours students is undertaken in the third year. More information about Honours is here.
