Heather Cavanagh is the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Science at Charles Sturt University. She has worked in several institutions in the UK, obtaining her BSc (Hons) Microbiology (Faculty of Science) and PhD (Molecular Virology; Faculty of Veterinary Medicine) from the University of Glasgow prior to completing a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the University of Strathclyde and a Graduate Certificate in University Leadership & Management from CSU. Her research focuses on the identification and development of novel antimicrobial therapies, particularly those derived from natural products. Heather has extensive experience in Honours, Masters and PhD supervision and has published widely in Science; also achieving national and international patents.
