1. I have a TAFE qualification. What credit am I entitled to?

This depends on what you studied at TAFE, and what you'd like to study at CSU. As a general guideline, with a TAFE Diploma, you may receive credit worth up to one year of a three-year degree (i.e. eight subjects). With an Advanced Diploma, you may receive credit worth up to two years of a three-year degree (i.e. 16 subjects). Other TAFE qualifications (for example, a Certificate IV) and individual TAFE modules/subjects may also generate credit, however this is usually determined on a case-by-case basis.

2. Is there a list of TAFE courses that have specific credit arrangements with CSU?

We're currently developing a credit package search system which will allow you to search for CSU credit arrangements, based on your TAFE qualifications. In the meantime, you can view a basic list of credit packages online.

3. How do I apply for credit?

You apply for credit as part of your University Application, either via a direct application to CSU, or through VTAC/UAC.

4. I am currently studying at TAFE, but I want to move across (articulate) to CSU. What options do I have?

As a TAFE student, you are in an excellent position to gain entry to CSU. Successfully gaining entry to CSU will depend on what you are currently studying at TAFE, and what you'd like to study at CSU. With a completed Diploma or Advanced Diploma, CSU guarantees you entry into most CSU undergraduate courses! For more information, simply call 1800 334 733, or submit an online enquiry.

5. I am interested in studying at both TAFE and CSU. What are my options?

You're in luck! CSU has a number of programs that combine TAFE and university study. Called 'Pathway Programs' you can either study at TAFE and CSU at the same time (Integrated Programs), or study at TAFE first, then move on to University study (Articulation Programs).

With Pathway Programs, by the end of your third or fourth year, you can graduate with a number of nationally recognised qualifications from both TAFE and CSU, including a Bachelor degree!

6. What's the minimum amount of TAFE study required to be accepted to CSU?

Generally, you will need to complete a Certificate III or higher in a relevant field of study to gain entry to a Bachelor degree. This will, however, depend on what you are currently studying at TAFE, and the entry requirements of the course you would like to study and any work experience you may have. For more information, simply call 1800 334 733, or submit an online enquiry.
