The coursework master degree is focused on the areas of environmental
management principles and issues and the rehabilitation of degraded environments.
The course aims to impart a sound knowledge and understanding of the significant
principles involved in environmental management and also to provide students
with the opportunity to investigate in detail, issues
specifically relating to the restoration of degraded and contaminated environments.
A significant feature of this course is the linking of and integration of theory and practice. Extensive field work is undertaken during residential schools which is intended to demonstrate the application of theoretical principles.
The Graduate Diploma comprises the subjects undertaken in the first four sessions of the Master of Applied Science (Environmental Management and Restoration).
Through the combination and integration of theory and practical work students are provided with the knowledge and skills required to become successful practitioners in the diverse field of environmental management.

Articulation
The Graduate Diploma articulates fully with the Master degree and full credit is given in the Master degree for the Graduate Diploma subjects.
Admission requirements
Master: Applicants will be expected to hold an appropriate honours, postgraduate or undergraduate qualification from a recognised tertiary institution. Persons not holding such a qualification but who have had at least five years of relevant professional experience will also be considered for admission.
Graduate Diploma: Applicants will be expected to hold an appropriate undergraduate qualification from a recognised tertiary institution. Persons not holding such a qualification but who have had at least three years of relevant professional experience will also be considered for admission.
Credit
Full credit will be awarded in either the Master degree or the Graduate Diploma for subjects completed in the Graduate Certificate in Contaminated Site Management or the Graduate Certificate in Restoration Ecology.
Graduation requirements
To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 96 points for the Master degree and 64 points for the Graduate Diploma.
