Fees apply to applicants admitted directly into Stage Two.
The Master of Applied Science (Teacher Librarianship) is targeted to meet the needs of qualified teachers with a minimum of three years of tertiary education who are either (a) practising teacher librarians without a specialist qualification, (b) practising teachers who wish to move into the field of teacher librarianship, or (c) qualified teacher librarians who wish to upgrade their qualifications.

Limited places in this program are offered under the Higher Education Contribution Scheme (HECS) in addition to those offered on a full fee paying basis.
Students may elect to exit the course following the completion of Stage 1 (64 points), normally after four sessions of study, and graduate with the award Graduate Diploma of Education (Teacher Librarianship).

Admission criteria
The minimum requirements for admission to candidature for the degree of Master of Applied Science (Teacher Librarianship) are that applicants:
Credit
Applicants for the award who have graduated from a graduate diploma or equivalent in the field of teacher librarianship may be granted credit for previous study in the area. The maximum credit that would be granted would be 64 points.
Professional recognition
Graduates are eligible for admission as an Associate of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).

To graduate, students must satisfactorily complete 12 subjects (96 points) including practical work as follows:

These recommended patterns are not prescribed. Students may do subjects in the order which best suits them and/or do a different number of subjects per session.

Students may elect to exit at this point and graduate with the award Graduate Diploma of Education (Teacher Librarianship) GradDipEd(TeachLib).
Students cannot progress on to Stage Two until completion of Stage One or approval by the Course Coordinator.
Optional residential schools are available in most Stage One subjects.
Stage Two
Continuing students complete 4 of the following subjects. Teachers holding a graduate diploma in teacher librarianship entering the course at this point complete either 4 or 5 of the following subjects depending on the currency of prior qualifications and experience and the amount of credit awarded for the prior qualifications/experience.
There are no residential schools for Stage 2 subjects.
