Bachelor of Social Science (Justice Studies)
BSocSc(JusticeStud)
The course has two strands, a general strand and a Policing specialisation:
- Policing specialisation which is a pre-recruitment vocational
course designed to meet the needs of those intending to seek a career in
policing. Students graduate with the award Bachelor of Social Science (Justice
Studies - Policing) BSocSc(JusticeStud)-Policing.
- General strand which is a vocational program designed to meet
the needs of those working in, or intending to work in, the criminal justice
field. Students completing the distance education programme graduate with
the award Bachelor of Social Science (Justice Studies), whilst students
completing the internal programme graduate with the award Bachelor of Social
Science (Justice Studies _ Criminal Justice) BSocSc(JusticeStud) _ Crim
Justice.
Students may elect to exit the course following the completion of Sessions
1-8 in the distance education programme and graduate with the award Diploma
of Social Science (Justice Studies).

Credit
Students who transfer from either the Associate Diploma of Criminal
Justice or the Associate Diploma of Social Science (Policing Studies) will,
depending on subjects completed, be eligible for credit for up to 16 subjects.
Credit will not exceed 16 subjects. Transfer from either Associate Diploma
will only be possible for those with a good academic record.
Students who have completed the NSW Police Academy PREP program will
be eligible for 4 subjects credit toward the Bachelor of Social Science
(Justice Studies) or the Associate Diploma of Justice Studies. These are
4 elective subjects in the General strand and 2 elective subjects and JST225
Police Practicum in the Police specialisation.
Graduation requirements
To graduate, students must satisfactorily complete 192 points.
