Bachelor of Business (Banking)
BBus(Bank)

The Bachelor of Business (Banking) provides students with the formal educational requirements for managerial positions in banking and other financial institutions. The course combines practical and specialist subjects with those that have a more conceptual/theoretical base. Graduates qualify for Senior Associate status with the Australian Institute of Banking and Finance.

Credit

Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Business degree are entitled to credits if they have completed applicable TAFE courses within ten years of admission to the degree. Credit is normally granted for relevant Certificates, Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas. Overseas qualifications will be considered for credit towards the Bachelor of Business degree.

Graduation requirements

To graduate, students must satisfactorily complete 192 points (24 subjects). These subjects are a combination of core subjects, specialisation subjects and electives.

All distance education students are required to have access to a personal computer (IBM PC or compatible) and spreadsheet software capable of reading Excel and/or Lotus 1-2-3 files. It is recommended that distance education students have access to appropriate hardware and software to enable them to communicate electronically with the University. The current specifications are available upon request.

Professional recognition

Satisfies the academic requirements for admission to the Australian Institute of Banking and Finance at the senior associate level.

Students must choose 6 electives either by:

Students must ensure that there are no more than 12 LEVEL ONE subjects in their degree. The level of a subject is designated by the first digit in the subject code, eg ACC100 is a level one subject.

Joint studies

A joint study is a prescribed set of subjects taken from a discipline, other than the chosen specialisation. Students are then able to use the title of the joint study in conjunction with the specialisation (e.g. Bachelor of Business (Accounting/Finance).
