The Master of Public Policy and Administration course provides the opportunity for students to develop advanced knowledge and understandings of management and leadership for policing and related professions. There is the opportunity also to undertake specialised studies through the elective options.

The Graduate Diploma in Public Administration (Policing) course provides a professional qualification indicating the achievement of high level intellectual skills and comprehensive knowledge and understanding of general and some more specialised areas of management and leadership.

The Graduate Certificate in Police Management is an introductory professional qualification that aims to enhance intellectual skills, knowledge and understanding of management and leadership.

Master degree: Part-time 3 years (6 sessions)

Graduate Diploma: Part-time 2 years (4 sessions)

Graduate Certificate: Part-time 1 years (2 sessions)

Admission criteria

Master degree: Candidates for admission to the Master of Public Policy and Administration degree program shall:

1)    hold a Bachelor degree, or  have qualified for an equivalent award;

        or

2)    hold a Graduate Diploma with an average of credit or hold a similar award;

        or

3)    have demonstrated in study or professional performance the potential to undertake study successfully at a master degree level acceptable to the AGSP.

Graduate Diploma: Candidates shall:

1)    hold a Bachelor degree, or have qualified for an equivalent award;

        or

2)    hold a Graduate Certificate in Police Management with an average of credit or hold a similar award;

        or

3)    have demonstrated in study or professional performance the potential to undertake study successfully at the Graduate Diploma level acceptable to the AGSP.

Graduate Certificate: Candidates shall:

1)    hold a Bachelor degree, or have qualified for an equivalent award;

        or

2)    have had at least eight years successful full-time equivalent professional experience in management and leadership in policing or a related profession, or in a related field.

Additionally, a number of police jurisdictions have articulation arrangements with the School, and prospective applicants should speak with the Course Coordinator about these.

Articulation

The Master degree, the Graduate Diploma and the Graduate Certificate make up an articulated set of courses and credit is given in each higher level course for the subjects completed in the lower level course.

Graduation requirements

To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 96 points (consisting of 128 point subjects) for the Master degree, 64 points (consisting of  8 eight point subjects) for the Graduate Diploma and 32 points (consisting of four 8 point subjects) for the Graduate Certificate.
