This course is designed to assist practising clergy and other church leaders to upgrade their knowledge and skills. The course presumes a previous undergraduate degree in theology, or its equivalent, or superior achievement within the Graduate Diploma of Theology. Upon completion of the Master of Ministry degree, it is expected that students will be able to demonstrate advanced competence in one of the following theological fields:

  tasks and methods of Christian Ministry in the Church’s mission in relation to society;

  pastoral counselling, church leadership and community ministry.

Graduation requirements

To graduate, students must satisfactorily complete 64 points (taken as six 8 point subjects in addition to the core 16 point subject).

Note: If subjects in pastoral counselling are chosen from the electives, THL122 Pastoral Care and Counselling is a required subject for students who have not previously undertaken studies in pastoral counselling.

Admission to the Doctor of Ministry

Students who wish to subsequently apply for admission to the Doctor of Ministry must include THL510 and THL511 in their restricted electives.
