This course is designed as a program of study in child and adolescent welfare that meets the needs of persons who have no formal award in this area but who have long and sustained experience (preferably at a senior level) of working with children and adolescents. It is also suitable for holders of an Associate Diploma. There are no residential schools.

Admission criteria

Entry is available to those applicants without a tertiary degree who have substantial industry experience and whose employing body attests to their likely academic and vocational success; or people who, in the opinion of the Course Coordinator, would be suitable for the program.

Applicants with degrees in relevant fields should apply for entry to the Master of Child and Adolescent Welfare.

Credit

Credit of up to four subjects (32 points) may be awarded to a student who has completed equivalent study at Master, Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma level at a recognised tertiary institution and on the basis of approved training courses combined with certain levels of experience in the child and adolescent field. All credit applications will be considered by the Course Coordinator.

Progression to the Master of Child and Adolescent Welfare

Students who complete this award may proceed to the Master of Child and Adolescent Welfare with credit for four subjects.

Graduation requirements

To graduate, students must satisfactorily complete 64 points, consisting of eight session-length subjects.
