The Graduate Diploma of
Investigations Management is designed to meet the educational needs of
experienced investigators in the police and non-police sectors. It aims to
enhance the skills and knowledge of experienced investigators and to help
prepare investigators for management roles.
This program has been
designed in collaboration with industry and provides University recognition for
industry training. An important aim of the program is the creation of a
portable qualification for the industry. It allows investigators with skills in
a particular aspect of the industry to gain a nationally recognised
qualification relevant to the whole industry.

Admission criteria
Applicants must:
• be currently employed in an investigation management role (can be in police or private sector)
and
• have one of the following:
a) undergraduate degree in relevant field (e.g. policing, accountancy, law)
b) more than five years experience as a police designated detective, with associated in-service training (e.g. Detective Education Program (DEP))
c) more than five years non-police investigative experience and associated training (e.g. Commonwealth Law Enforcement Board Certificate 4)
Graduation requirements
To graduate, students
must satisfactorily complete 64 points (eight subjects).
Admission to Master of Arts
Students who have
satisfactorily completed the Graduate Diploma requirements with a credit
average are eligible to apply for admission to the Master of Arts, which offers
specialisations in areas of policing and investigation. Upon admission to the
Master degree course, students are awarded credit for the Graduate Diploma and
upon completion of the dissertation requirements for the Master degree course
(a further 32 points), students graduate with the award Master of Arts
(Investigations Management).
