designed to promote the wellbeing of a population as a whole. It is also an
approach to social welfare which offers an effective developmental response to
the situation of socially and economically deprived populations. It will
emphasise elements of international social work and social welfare practice
useful for socio-economic development such as self-help, mutual aid,
conscientization, institution building, community social capital and developing
community capacity.
